We conduct these annual projects during Winter and Spring breaks. They use stories, crafts, games, songs, and take-home activities to encourage kids to keep on reading even when school's not in session. Designed and led by AmeriCorps members, these enrichment activities always rock!
You may also send us an email if you'd like to know how you can volunteer, support the project, or have any questions!
Of the thousands of children we serve each year, many live in poverty and
come from homes where there are no books. We hope that you'll help us to
change that, one child at a time.
If you'd like to make a donation of new or gently used books, we'd be
thrilled to distribute them to deserving children at one of our community
events. We have literacy projects each winter and spring, family
involvement nights every month, and work with children at Safe Kids
activities and on dozens of other projects.
All of these events present an opportunity to make sure that every child who
needs a book (or several), can walk away with one or more that they can call
their own.
Please contact us.
Thank you!
In this annual project, one finalist is picked from each of four local libraries to have their poster displayed for everyone to see! All other artwork is donated to cheer the hearts of senior citizens when they are delivered to local assisted-living and retirement facilities. The GRAND PRIZE winner receives a BRAND NEW BIKE (courtesy of the Chinook Bicycle Club and Scott's Cycle & Sports) and helmet (courtesy of Safe Kids Coalition)! Three runners-up receive a gift certificates for a bundle of books!
A special thanks goes out to our 2010 major financial sponsors:
Scott's Cycle & Sports, Chinook Cycle Club, Walmart, and Windemere Real Estate/Tri-Cities (Thompson-Retter Inc.)
